Images From October 2011 Workshops

A collection of images from the workshops in Ebisu, Sendai and Tono over the past few days including a visit to the devastated oceanside where the tsunami struck.

Jonah opens the circle with a body-sensing exercise
The workshop opened with a brief review of trauma and how PTSD develops
Flexibility exercises which alternate between stiff-soldier pose and floppy octopus
Participants released powerful expressions of repressed anger in an exercise everyone always enjoys
Meanwhile, Josh received an eye exam from one of the local specialists
Outside of Sendai, the seaside areas have had all the rubble removed, leaving an eerie sense of desolation
A few foundations of houses and stores remain where once there was a thriving seaside village
Hundreds of businesses were destroyed
Hundreds of wrecked motorcycles piled by high in an abandoned school yard
Ever mindful of the world of Spirit, residents erected a Torri gate
Before each workshop began participants filled in a brief survey to assess their understanding of trauma
Jonah takes the group through the ten exercises we developed
Workshop participants stretch and tone as the process begins
Participants rushed to the other side of the circle to "mix things up"
Proper Japanese women are game to play as they stiffen their bodies and willingly follow the exercises
Jonah gets a sense what it feels like when everyone releases anger
