In response to the recent earthquake in Java, FBF dispatched a small
trauma team who went to the area and worked with hundreds of teachers,
parents and children who were so tragically affected by this traumatic
event. More than 600,000 of the area's 800,000 people needed some form
of assistance.
Donations for services and staff needs were badly needed in order to
assure that our volunteers were fully prepared to do the work needed.
We were able to raise less than $15,000 to fund the effort and still
have a shortfall to cover. At this time, we continue to direct funds to
specific projects or groups after making wonderful personal contacts on
the ground.
Thank you for your ongoing support for those in need in Java and
elsewhere. All funds collected were held in a separate account and used
for the Java Project. The American Express Company and McDonald's
Corporation will continue to match any employee contribution.
William Spear led a small group of spirited volunteers
to Sri Lanka shortly after the tsunami struck Southeast Asia, and
Fortunate Blessings Foundation sent additional teams in the months
that followed to assist with disaster support and trauma relief.

Thus far, donations of more than $125,000 have gone
directly to those in need. A follow-up trip to Sri Lanka will occur
when sufficient funds allow an additional mission. We continue to
support those in need in Sri Lanka more than 24 months after the
tsunami. One particular project we love came from our first efforts
there for children.
